US Coast Guard District 13 welcomes new commander

SEATTLE — Rear Adm. Anthony J. Vogt assumed command of U.S. Coast Guard District 13 at a
July 9 ceremony at Coast Guard Base Seattle.

Vogt relieved the
district’s previous commander, Rear Adm. David G. Throop.

Throop will move to Alameda, Calif. to serve as the deputy commander of the Coast Guard’s Pacific Area Command.

The District 13 is responsible for all Coast
Guard operations in the states of Washington,
Oregon, Idaho and Montana.

As its new commander, Vogt will be responsible for 4,400 miles of coastline, 600 miles of inland waterways as well as the 125 nautical mile maritime border with Canada.
