Oregon beaches relatively unlikely to sicken visitors

As the summer heat wanes, beachcombers can head to the Oregon Coast confident there’s little chance they will get sick from contaminated ocean water.

But people have reported getting sick. The state does issue periodic advisories about illness-inducing water at a handful of popular beaches, according to The Register-Guard’s analysis of more than a decade of monitoring data required by the federal government.
