Funnel cloud near Dundee caps a Saturday evening of record rainfall

PORTLAND, Ore. — On Saturday a boisterous round of storms dumped record rainfall on the Portland metro area and even stirred up a funnel cloud.

The National Weather Service reported 0.79 inches of rainfall in Portland today, the wettest August 10 on record. Almost two-thirds of an inch of rain fell in just one hour, between 5 p.m and 6 p.m.

Drivers on I-205 northbound going over the Glenn Jackson Bridge felt the rain in a big way when a huge puddle formed in two of the lanes.

The lanes had to be closed, snarling traffic for miles.
