Tiki bars came into fashion in the wake of the Great Depression. If you couldn’t afford to sail to a tropical island, you could at least drink away your cares in place pretending to be one. A sweet cocktail consumed against a backdrop of lava rocks is the best many of us can hope for and that still makes us luckier than most. Anyway.
