Spout time for a celebration

Oregon’s central role in the whale watching world will be cemented this Saturday, Aug. 11, with a celebration marking the installation of the first official Whale Trail interpretive sign in Newport.

The celebration, hosted by the American Cetacean Society, will run from 10 am to 1 pm at Don Davis Park, 840 W Olive Street.

Based out of Seattle, the Whale Trail has more than 90 sites along the West Coast where people can observe whales and other marine mammals from shore. Thanks to a partnership between the Oregon Chapter
