University of Oregon architect Michael Harwood revives talk of rehabilitating Eugene Millrace – The Register

Just four months on the job, the new University of Oregon campus architect has seized on an idea that has fired up some Eugene residents for generations.

The city’s millrace, which appears as a stagnant pond here and a drainage channel there before disappearing into a 30-inch-diameter pipe six feet underground, has been abused by Eugene.

“It’s just a muddy ditch,” said UO architect Michael Harwood, “and it could be so much more.”
